Comments
I was in the field from 12-4pm traveling from 8k' to a bit over 9k' elevation, everything except for steep sheltered northerly slopes was already damp by this time of day. Sheltered northerly around 9k' and above seemed to stay cold and dry all day and will likely be the only snow without a crust of some sort tomorrow in this zone. Steep solars went through a wet loose cycle as expected, and there was only one storm slab I saw today that I submitted in an avalanche ob. I got eyes on a few of the repeaters in this zone but none of them avalanched this week, curious to see what they do as the winter goes on. HS in this zone is now ~160cm at 8k' and around 200-240cm above 9k'. There's 75cm of new snow on top of the dust layer here. Only test I did was a hand shear and I got a clean shear on a density change about 15cm above the dust layer, and also got a clean shear directly below the dust layer. I tried to move snow on some test slopes but nothing would budge, and there were tons of sled tracks on everything steep with no results.
