Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

Brett Kobernik
Issued by Brett Kobernik on
Thursday morning, February 10, 2022
The avalanche danger on the Manti Skyline remains generally LOW.
The only real concern is if you were to trigger a wind drift and it knocked you down into rocks/cliffs/trees.
Wind slabs that may release on a person seem far and few between but don't let your guard down especially if you're getting into committing terrain.

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions
Clouds hung over the mountains much longer than I anticipated on Wednesday. There was a pretty steady moderate speed northwest wind during the day. Temperatures at lower elevations were very warm making the snow quite damp. It'll be frozen up solid this morning as overnight temperatures dipped down to around 20 or so.
Mountain Weather
Today we'll see quite a bit more sun and ridgetop temperatures into the mid to upper 30s. We'll see light to moderate speed northwest wind. Sunny mild weather continues through the weekend. Weather models are still showing a "closed low pressure system" busting through the ridge about mid week next week. Currently it looks like it's going to dig too far south for a big storm on the Skyline. Some snow is portrayed for our area, just not a huge amount.
